Lilac blossoms
It is time for Lilac blooms to say good-bye because they are all withering …such a short life! I took some shots to capture their different stages of blooming.
When they started to fade I felt sad and did not want to let them to go. To cherish their beauty I preserved some. It is a continuation of my fascination with saving pressed flowers in between the pages of books.
This is different as individual flowers are dehydrated after coating them with egg white using a brush and dusting with powdered sugar. It works with fine granulated sugar too.
I let them dry completely spread on a tray. After 2 days they were rock hard with their colour and shape intact. I have saved them in an airtight jar for future use.
So pretty! 🙂

It is sad…I have to wait a whole year to see them again!

What a gorgeous post! Wow. So inventive. Lilacs might just be my favorite flower. They remind me of growing up and they’re so fleeting. What a beautiful thing you did here with such detail and such beautiful photos. So impressive.
