Pink juice for a red hot day!
It is sizzling hot out here and it is baking us for a week in this wide open oven. The temperature climbs to mid 30ºC and with the humidity it feels like mid 40°C. So I decided to relax and proceed at a comfortable pace. It is the right time to keep cool and get into water at the slightest provocation. Of late, playing with the hose in the act of watering the garden is my favourite evening sport and spraying others unintentionally is extra fun.
Sitting in the backyard and enjoying a cool drink would be the next alternative. Any parched tongue would thank a sip of this melon cooler. Today, I made a jug of watermelon, strawberry juice with a touch of lemon and immediately surrendered to its magic!
All senses woke up after a breakfast with this watermelon drink and kept me going for the rest of the day! I am sure it is a good cleanser and rehydrates in this humid scorcher. Mid June to August is the melon season and it contains most vitamins and minerals we need. It keeps our heart and bones in good cheer. Recent studies also reveal that it relaxes blood vessels and provides a Viagra effect. That is very interesting! So without any delay the blender got into action. As I love watermelon for its sweetness no sugar was added. It can be watered down with ice cubes or concentrated with frozen watermelon pieces.
Ingredients
- 6 cups Watermelon diced
- 2 cups strawberries diced
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- 1 pinch salt
- mint leaves to garnish
- Puree watermelon and strawberries together.
- Add lemon juice and a pinch of salt.
- Pour it into a glass and add a sprig of mint.
- Add ice cubes or cubes of frozen watermelon.
Keep it cool in the refrigerator and drink as many time as you wish. I have decided to show more regards to our humble melon this season! So there are more recipes in store.
To beat this scorching summer heat, there’s nothing reliable than a refreshing watermelon cooler. Sip it and feel pleasured! (wink!)
Yum! Looks so delicious. It is so hot today. I wish that I had the ingredients for this in my house.

I made quite a lot as it was a large melon and could not finish it. Well, technology is not progressed enough to send some your way.

Yes, I have settled in the new house except for some odd things lying around. Enjoying the beautiful backyard…thanks to the previous owner.
I heard monsoon is in full blast! I can totally picture the downpour in Mumbai as I was stuck at the airport for 3 days during the 2005 July monsoon flooding…long story!
Stay warm and dry!
